Lieve Cornil, lettering artist and lecturer at the European Lettering Institute, has invited Andrew Whittle, lettercutter and former lecturer at Weymouth College, to return to Belgium for this exciting lettering workshop. Calligraphers and lettercutters will work in separate groups reflecting on the same subject matter: ‘Land-marks’. Along side Lieve’s exploration of the shapes and forms inherent in maps and the landscape, trying to translate them into letterforms and graphic textures, Andrew’s group will look at textures to be seen both in the ‘macro’ i.e.the earth itself and the ‘micro’ stones that we use, their natural surfaces and the affects of tools and grits on them.
All tuition, meals and accommodation are included. Students will benefit from 4 full teaching days and we will celebrate all this hard work during a closing down dinner on Tuesday evening. We are looking forward to welcoming you in June! More info and subscription:
