WHO IS THIS MODULE DESIGNED FOR?
We usually use letterforms for functional purposes. However, these abstract signs can be a source of inspiration for any artistic expression. This module is all about visualizing text in a specific (art) context. We welcome anyone wishing to find out which impact text can have on its surroundings. Or how to bring a text concept to a broader audience. Please note: This module is a follow-up of the module “Manual & digital tools”. The modules “Textart” and “Manual & digital tools” are alternated every academic year.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
As soon as we leave the calligraphic and typographic rules behind, we enter a world of personal expression. Not only will you be introduced to manual printing techniques, collage and bookbinding, but you will discover Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign or different specific software applications. We will tell you more the meaning of text, so you can find sound graphic and lettering answers to specific concepts. In this module you get to do research, experiment and work towards a specific goal.
WHAT IS THE EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOME?
This module will let your creative thinking shine! Learning how to visualise text is certainly not easy but stretches the mind. It can help when discussing your ideas with clients. Seeing creative possibilities and dealing with out-of-the-box thinking strategies are essential in any creative career.
